Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence: Advocacy at the Intersections (Afternoon Session)

Join ODVN for this all-day workshop where you will learn about Human Trafficking as it relates to domestic violence. The day will be divided into six different sessions, designed to give you in-depth knowledge about human trafficking and how to offer better service to survivors.

Session 3: Accessing Your Local Continuum of Care
Time: 1:00 pm-1:30 pm
Trainers: Michelle Hannan, MSW, LISW-S & Terri Foltz, Esq., The Salvation Army of Central Ohio, The Central Ohio Reach and Restore Coalition
Title and Credentials: Anti-Human Trafficking Program Director & Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition Specialist
Description: Michelle and Terri will discuss the role of anti-trafficking coalitions, the importance of utilizing a comprehensive continuum of care, and how to identify and connect with local resources.

Session 4: Dynamics of Serving Trafficking Survivors
Time: 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Trainers: Vanessa Perkins
Title and Credentials: Subject matter expert and advocate
Description: Vanessa is a subject matter expert and advocates for victims of trafficking. She will discuss her experience working for CATCH Court in Franklin County, a specialty court docket for women identified as victims of trafficking, and her work in Ohio’s anti-trafficking response efforts.

Session 5: Law Enforcement Perspective
Time: 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Trainers: Sgt. Dana Hess, The Central Ohio Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Task Force
Title and Credentials: Director of the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Task Force
Description: Sgt. Hess will discuss the work of the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Law Enforcement Task Force and share information on how the task force partners with local agencies and advocates to identify offenders and support survivors.

Session 6: Human Trafficking Intersections
Time: 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm
Trainer: Keyna Smith, MSSA, LSW, The Cleveland Rape Crisis Center
Title and Credentials:  Director of Anti-Human Trafficking and Advocacy
Description: Keyna will discuss the relationship between human trafficking and other abuses, provide service considerations when working with survivors of human trafficking, and will discuss how human trafficking ties into the work of the  Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.

CEUs: To obtain 4 CEUs, you are required to attend the entire training. You will be asked to fill out an evaluation prior to receiving a certificate of attendance.
